This tune was originally composed by arranger, composer, and double bassist Spike Hughes and was recorded in New York in 1933, during his renowned productive recording years. The original recording features a mixed bag of musicians from the great local orchestras of the time; the ensemble was named Spike Hughes and His Negro Orchestra for this recording session, prominently featuring the great tenor saxophonist Coleman Hawkins, who played the lead melody, and who is seen sketched in the video.
Since many guitarists have requested a backing track, let me recommend this one by Matthew Redmond.
