This is a transcription of the 42-seconds clip posted by Blake Mills on his old Instagram account, breakmirrors. The song description stated: “Rain!!!!”. “There’s a Lull in My Life” is a Jazz standard from 1937, and the paradigm recording has become Chet Baker’s version (1957), which sounds like a source of inspiration for Blake Mills. Supposedly, he played through the whole song, but we are left with this little snippet. He rearranges it as a slow-moving, moody piece and explores 3-notes chord voicings on the lowest 3 strings, in his usual Open Db tuning. Enjoy!
