This is a complete transcription of “formwela 1”, the first part in the trilogy of the Songwrights Apothecary Lab project. This formula reads: “designed for memorizing, then hearing internally (via audiation) as an aide to self-soothe during an acute moment of stress in the home”. Musically speaking, this composition is indeed soothing and de-stressful in its patient pace and simple instrumentation. It exploits the dreamy sound of the Mixolydian mode (arguably, the Lydian-Dominant mode) in A♭, the whole-tone scale, and a powerful build-up through repetitions. Enjoy!
