This is a full transcription of the vocal, electric guitar, and bass track on this 1980s smash-hit “How Am I Supposed to Live Without You”. As a bonus, I have added a 2-pages lead sheet with every bar written out in chords.
This song was originally written by the songwriter duo in 1982 and first given to Laura Branigan, for whom it became a hit in 1983. However, the song only took to global heights with Michael Bolton’s own recording in 1989, which has arguably outdone and outshined Laura Branigan’s recording. Apart from the better sound-quality, they reduced the chord arrangement to a more standard 80s-pop-rock arrangement. Luckily, they held on to a climactic guitar solo and an upward modulation – call it cheesy all you like, but coming from a musician: This is song is a joy to play. Enjoy!
