This is a transcription of the double bass that figures as the centerpiece of “Is You Is or Is You Ain’t My Baby”, that is, in the version of the song known from Tom & Jerry, from the episode where Tom boisterously serenades Toodles Galore at her balcony until he eventually receives a solid clothes-iron pie from Jerry. The song was first a major hit for Louis Jordan in 1944, but since then this 1946 recording has conquered the first place in our collective music memory, not least due to its prominent placing in cartoon history (read more on CartoonResearch.com). Enjoy!
A special Thank You goes out to a certain A.G. – you know who you are! – who suggested and sponsored this transcription.
