This is a transcription of the Steely Dan classic, “Third World Man”. This transcription features all guitar, bass, and vocal parts, including an alternative rhythm guitar take only featured in the instrumental mix of the song (see lower video). This song was mainly recorded 4-5 years prior, during the recording sessions for The Royal Scam album, but the tapes were archived until the Gaucho album was in need of an ending track, according to Larry Carlton, for whom this guitar performance turned out to be a highlight in his career. Enjoy!
Be sure to check out the great instructional video (by Homespun) in which Donald Fagen himself breaks down songs like, “Peg”, “Josie”, “Chain Lightning”, and more: Get it here on their website.
