This is a transcription of “Short Form”. This is a hazy slow ballad in the key of G Major, whose free and obscured timing gives it an rather unusual groove. The title probably refers to that short bar of 7/8 that appears surprisingly and unnoticeably amidst bars of 4/4, which helps to throw off the rhythmic scent, together with Dave King’s unpredictable free style. Despite slow groove, this is a rare occasion to hear Julian Lage shred in lightning fast legato licks and harmonically surprising lines. Enjoy!
