This is a complete transcription of the original tune “Squint”. This original Jazz standard is a fast and playful tune that lets the trio to improvise in a Bluesy and free way. A music critic wrote: “It put me in mind of those dancers who stumble and fall, and right themselves just before hitting the floor” (The New Yorker, 17th June 2021).

“ It's a lot of swing-based music. A lot of this record is a study of, frankly, medium swing. 4/4 music. It's more centered on that time feel and that cadence. (…) The interaction with it, on one song, might be more learning toward Lennie Tristano's tradition of feeling the swing pulse. I think something like "Squint," is more in that tradition. ”
– Julian Lage (Grammy, 9th June 2021)
